Interesting Places to Eat in South Carolina

We found some interesting and reasonably priced restaurants on our trip.

The Alpine, Eutawville, SC.  Their menu is a newspaper, the Alpine Times, which explains the history of the area.  The locals eat here!  Breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Sandy’s special: two eggs any style, bacon or sausage (link or patty), choice of grits, home fries or biscuit, includes coffee or soda $4.69.  Good fries!  Peel and eat shrimp, 16, $9.99.

Silo’s in St. Stephen, SC, recently opened.  It serves lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday, including hamburgers, sandwiches, soft-serve ice cream and other American fare.  We loved their huge burger with grilled onions.

The Flying Saucer Draught Emporium in Columbia, SC.  Their menu is called the “Fly Paper.”  This interesting spot has the largest selection of quality hand-crafted beers from South Carolina and around the world – 81 of them on tap.  Also bottled beer and pint nite specials.  Oh, and they have food, too, like blue cheese burgers.

  1. I had been to Silo's before and their ice cream is so delicious! Can you post another list? Like a more comprehensive post about interesting restaurants in South Carolina. I'll visit my friend there next month so I'll appreciate if you could provide me with more suggestions.

  2. Hi Alex, I'd love to post more restaurants, but I usually eat at the homes of friends when I'm in South Carolina. This was an unusual trip and we ate out more. Wish I could help. Let me know if you find anything GOOD! And, whatcha' doing in St. Stephen?
